2. What this policy covers
This policy applies only to this website (barbarostechnologies.com). Our products — including Ormur and Device Connect — are governed by their own privacy policies, which are published with each product and describe the data those applications process on your devices.
3. What we collect
This site is a static website. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics or tracking scripts, embeds no third-party advertising, and builds no profile of you.
Two categories of data are nonetheless processed, and we state them plainly rather than claiming we collect nothing:
- Server logs. Our hosting provider records standard technical request data — IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp — as an automatic part of serving the page. This is used for security, abuse prevention and operational diagnostics. We do not use it to identify visitors and we do not combine it with other data.
- Correspondence. If you email us, we receive and retain your message, your email address and anything else you choose to include, so we can reply and keep a record of the exchange.
4. Legal basis for processing (GDPR)
Where the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation applies, we rely on our legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) in operating a secure website and in responding to correspondence directed to us. We do not process special-category data and we do not carry out automated decision-making or profiling.
5. Sharing
We do not sell, rent or trade personal data. Data is disclosed only to the service providers strictly necessary to run this site and our email — our hosting provider and our email provider, acting as processors on our instructions — or where we are legally compelled to disclose it.
6. International transfers
We are a United States entity and our providers operate globally. Where personal data originating in the EEA or UK is transferred to the United States, that transfer is made under appropriate safeguards, including the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses where required.
7. Retention
Server logs are retained by our hosting provider for a short operational period, typically no longer than 30 days. Email correspondence is retained while the matter is open and thereafter for as long as needed for our records or to meet legal obligations.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and to receive a copy in a portable format. California residents additionally have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know and the right to delete. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law.
To exercise any right, email info@barbarostechnologies.com. We will respond within the period required by applicable law. Exercising these rights costs you nothing and we will not treat you differently for doing so. If you are in the EEA or UK and are unsatisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority.
9. Children
This site is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16.
10. Changes
If we change this policy we will update the effective date above. Material changes will be described on this page rather than applied silently.
